The contract for the Silvan Tunnel Completion Section II was signed in May 2023. This tunnel is the second in a series forming a key component of the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) and the Silvan Irrigation project. It spans 13,236 meters in length, with an excavation volume of approximately 1.1 million cubic meters. The project also includes the production of 22,000 cubic meters of concrete for the water intake and outlet gates. Tunnel construction will utilize TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) technology. The TBM equipment is currently being manufactured in Germany, with factory testing successfully completed as of October 2024. Project completion is expected in 2028.
