The general concept of the project, referred to as Phase II of the NEOM Magna Region Aquellum Project, includes excavation works related to the structure located near the Gulf of Aqaba.
The main components of the project include the Mobility Extension Tunnel with a length of 86.65 meters, the Water Tunnel with a length of 122 meters, the Master Plan Tunnel with a length of 587.70 meters, and the Logistic Tunnel with a length of 326.89 meters. The scope of the project also includes the installation of rockfall barriers with a total length of 217.75 meters and the excavation of a vertical shaft with a depth of 127.39 meters.
Within the scope of the project, excavation and support works for the Mobility Extension Tunnel, 108 meters of excavation and support works for the Water Tunnel, vertical shaft excavation, and drilling and installation works for rockfall barriers at the south and north portals of the Master Plan Tunnel have been completed.
In addition, 439.01 meters of excavation and support works have been completed in the upper section of the Master Plan Tunnel, including 424.83 meters from the south side and 14.18 meters from the north side, leaving 148.69 meters of excavation and support works remaining. In the lower section of the Master Plan Tunnel, 351.43 meters of excavation and support works have been completed, including 337.25 meters from the south side and 14.18 meters from the north side, leaving 236.27 meters remaining. For the Logistic Tunnel, 21.65 meters of full-section tunnel excavation and support works have been completed from the south side.
