Engineer Girls of Turkey

Engineer Girls of Turkey (EGT) project, which was implemented in 2015 to contribute to inclusive and sustainable growth by developing a model for increasing the employment of qualified women by enabling women to take more places in the field of engineering, where labor force participation is low, has been carried out in partnership with the Limak Foundation, the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services, the Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The project, which is designed with a holistic approach, includes the programs carried out for high school and university students, as well as the Gender Equality Seal Program, which aims to create an inclusive model in corporate life as the 3rd group activity area.

5th İstanbul Gathering

At the 5th İstanbul gathering held on 14-15-16 February 2020, the Engineer Girls of Turkey who came together spent 3 days full of trainings, inspiring speeches and social events. Students also wrote and composed the song of Engineer Girls of Turkey project together with the music band Gripin in the workshop, which was organised with the support of Avrupa Müzik.

In the online talk series called EGT Talks, which brings EGT members together with prominent names in their field, the topics of sustainability, volunteering, personal branding and audiobooks were discussed between February and May 2020. Zeynep İnanoglu, a role model with an impressive engineering education and successful career spanning from Harvard to Cambridge, was invited to the live broadcast event on June 23, International Women Engineers Day.

EGT- High School Program

In the EGT High School Program, which has been carried out since 2017, with the aim of raising awareness about social stereotypes towards occupational choices that occur at an early age and to make students choose professions according to their abilities and interests by eliminating these stereotypes, in the 2019-2020 period, activities continued in 25 schools covering 10 provinces (Adana, Ankara, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bitlis, Diyarbakır, Isparta, İzmir, İstanbul, Samsun) in cooperation with the Teacher Academy Foundation (ÖRAV).

Approximately 2,500 students were reached with the activities carried out under the mentorship of ÖRAV educators and under the guidance of 144 teachers participating in the program. Within the scope of the Project; role model videos, introducing the 6 engineering departments supported in the project and sharing the experiences of successful female engineers, were also published online.

EGT-Gender Equality Seal Program

With the EGT Gender Equality Seal Program, the global gender equality certificate program carried out by the United Nations Development Program for public and private sector organizations, it is aimed to close the differences that may occur between the genders in working life and to establish standards regarding this. The Program envisages the establishment of an internal management system in which companies constantly monitor and improve the equality of opportunity between men and women in their own bodies and business relationships.

Within the scope of the Gender Equality Seal Program, which was launched at Limak Investment for the first time in 2019 in Turkey, the pilot implementation was carried out with the aim of developing and adopting a gender sensitive approach and implementing global standards related to this at the institutional level. The Gender Equality Seal Program was also expanded within the Limak Group of Companies in 2020, taking a leading role in the business world in ensuring gender equality in working life.
