Infrastructure Investments

Limak continued to grow by sustaining its activities in the field of infrastructure investments in 2019.

Pristina Adem Jashari International Airport, the only international airport of the Republic of Kosovo, which was completed abroad in 2013 in airport operations, broke a record in 2019 by serving a total number of 2 million 369 thousand 811 passengers. Pristina Adem Jashari International Airport adds great value to the aviation sector and all organizations serving this sector, both in Kosovo and the entire Balkan geography. Blaise Diagne Airport, which was completed in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, and started its operations together with its partner and Senegal State, served a total of 2 million 491 thousand passengers in 2019, growing by 5 percent compared to the previous year.

At İstanbul Airport which is the largest airport in the world, and where Limak is involved as a partner, within the period between April to 31 December 2019, approximately 322 thousand flights took place and 36.5 million luggage were carried by serving approximately 52 million domestic and foreign passengers.  At İstanbul Airport, where a total of 74 airline companies have scheduled flights, 11 more foreign airlines started flying for the first time in 2019 and ranked the 5th airport in Europe with the highest direct connection.

Ankara Train Station and Life Center was put into operation in 2016 as Turkey’s first and only high-speed train station project and in addition to the revolution made in transportation, it continues to contribute to the economy of Turkey with a shopping center of a select store mix, a business hotel and leasable offices.

In port management; LimakPort İskenderun which completed the investment plan of 1 million TEU container handling 2014, spent a productive year in 2019 in which both container and non-container cargo volumes increased significantly. In 2019, a growth of 27 percent was achieved in total full DRY container handling.

Limak started its operation in 2019 by completing the construction of the Northern Marmara Motorway Project 4th section, which will be connected to the Osmangazi Bridge with the Port linking road, starting from Kurtköy as a continuation of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge.

In Limak’s investments under construction and in bridge and highway management; the construction of the Ufa East Exit Road continued, the agreement of which was concluded on July 27, 2017. In the project where the build-operate-transfer model will be applied, the company will operate the highway for 25 years with its partner. The construction of 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway, the groundbreaking ceremony of which was held on March 18, 2017 as one of Turkey’s most important infrastructure projects, continue with the partners.  1915 Çanakkale Bridge which will be the longest suspension bridge of the world with a span of 2023 meters between the abutments and it is planned to be completed and opened in 2023, on the 100th anniversary of our Republic. Within the scope of a multiple-use project; with a gross area of 323 thousand square meters in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, the design of shopping malls, multi storey car parks, hotel, office and residence blocks was realized.  The construction of the project continues which will be completed in 2022 and put into operation.

Limak will sustain efforts to look for the new project opportunities in infrastructure investments and to increase operational and financial efficiency in existing projects.
