Northern Marmara Motorway Section 6

North Marmara Motorway Section 6 was opened with a ceremony on December 19, 2020.

With the completion of the last and longest section of the 73-kilometer-long Northern Marmara Motorway between İzmit and Akyazı, which was launched with the aim of easing the current system load of İstanbul, which is the intercontinental crossing position with the help of a new highway network, the entire 400-kilometer-long Northern Marmara Motorway was put into service.

The Northern Marmara Motorway, which connects the Asian and European continents, will providing a high standards, safety, quality and uninterrupted transportation that will ease the transportation of the Marmara Region, which hosts the largest industrial regions of our country.

There are 158 culverts, 22 underpasses, 16 bridges, 17 overpasses, 6 viaducts, 3 tunnels, 4 free passage systems, 4 highway service facilities and 10 junctions on the motorway and the construction and operation period is 6 years, 9 months and 12 days. The construction of this section was completely undertaken by Limak.
