Science Fellowship Project

It has been ensured that 4000 children become acquainted with science within the scope of the project conducted with the “Equal Opportunities in Science” theme. Activities aimed for the children were realized with the LED Night Lamp Workshop Tent and the Solar Cell Mini Robot and Wind Power Plant Project in 2018 within the scope of the project so far.

“A Book A Brighter Future”

While 19 village schools acquired libraries, more than 50 thousand books in total were offered to the children with the “A Book A Brighter Future” project initiated in 2014. Certain renovation procedures are realized with the project that also contributes in improving the physical conditions of the students.

Energetic Holiday Painting and Activity Book

Limak Energy presents its “Energetic Holiday Painting and Activity” book to children in all grades. Through the book, it is aimed to raise awareness among preschool students about renewable energy sources and the benefits they provide by having fun with pictures and activities. To this date, nearly 21 thousand books have been brought together with students.

Energetic Touch with  Limak Energy

In this project, which is important due to the fact that 25 percent of the energy consumption in our country is made by home users, together with the energy efficiency specialist, awareness raising on savings and efficiency is made by visiting the families of different demographic characteristics and consumption groups. With the project, it is aimed to reach many families all over Turkey and to raise awareness about savings.

“May My Brother Not Be Cold”Campaign

With the “May My Sibling Not Be Cold” project that started in 2013, winter clothing aid is provided for children in need. Within the scope of the project, 850 students were provided with coats, scarves, hats and gloves in Bursa, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Yalova, Hatay and Kars. The project, which also includes university students and entertainment programs with various activities, aims to create awareness on importance of cooperation.


Limak Energy Music Chorus “No Boundaries”

Limak Energy Disabled Music Chorus was established in 2016. It consists of 20 Limak Energy employees and 6 disabled individuals. Performed 17 concerts so far in Bursa, İskenderun, Balıkesir, Kuwait, Bahçeşehir University, İstanbul Zeytinburnu Municipality, Muğla Yeniköy, Hamitabat, Çanakkale and Ankara. The revenues obtained from the concerts were transferred to the Red Crescent, Bursa Disabled Federation, Bursa ENKADER and Balıkesir Disabled Association.

“International Lights of the City” Photography Contest

The “Lights of the City” photography contest, where photographs with the theme of “Night and Light” competed, was completed in the 7th year with the participation of many artists from both our country and the world. In the competition, which started in 2013, 5530 photos competed this year. 50 photographs selected by the jury members are exhibited in many places, especially in Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).

  • Harem Ballet was performed by the artists of Ankara State Opera and Ballet at Kemal Kurdaş Hall of METU on 26 May 2010 of whose revenue to be transferred to Lösev which renders service as to provide assistance to meet all sorts of needs, primarily health and education, of the children with leukemia, and also to establish and run treatment, training and research institutions at national level regarding the genetic and acquired blood diseases.
  • 13. Flying Broom Women’s Films Festival
  • The 13th of the Flying Broom International Women Films Festival, which was organized by Flying Broom and held every year since 1998, which is the first women films festival of Turkey, was held on 6-13 May 2010. At the festival, of which we are one of the sponsors, long, short, documentary and animation movies of female directors from both our country and the world were presented to the audience and panels, talks and exhibitions are held.


  • 11. Flying Broom International Women Films Festival
  • The Flying Broom International Women Films Festival, the first Turkish Women Films Festival organized by the Flying Broom Organization every year since 1998, took place between May 8th and 15th, 2008 for the 11th time this year. Within the scope of the festival, of which Limak is one of the sponsors, a number of full length and short films, documentaries, and animated movies directed by female directors around the world were displayed. Several panels, interviews, and exhibitions took place during the festival.
  • "Turkish Piano Pieces for Children" Music CD World Premiere
  • Music CD "Turkish Piano Pieces for Children" is recorded by pianist Yeşim Gökalp at a high-tech music studio in Germany. Şefik Kahramankaptan is the supervisor of this project. The outcome CD includes songs composed for children and teenagers by two members of the "Turque Cinque" group of the Republican Era, namely Ahmet Adnan Saygun and Ulvi Cemal Erkin, as well as İlhan Baran and İstemihan Taviloğlu, the second and third generation Turkish composers, respectively.
  • Among the songs included in the CD, Baran’s and Taviloğlu’s pieces were recorded for the first time and therefore the CD was considered the "world premiere" of the songs. The CD, sponsored by Limak Group of Companies and recorded for both children and adults, is not only a part of the Turkish Music Archives but also an audio example for piano students and teachers that go beyond the syllables of music.
  • Limak Tourism Group “Introducing Our Culture” Book Project
  • Limak International Hotels and Resorts considers the promotion of the fundamental elements of our culture developed in thousands of years as a duty, and started to print the books of Yunus Emre, Mevlana, Dede Korkut, Hacivat and Karagöz, and Nasrettin Hodja in English and German languages in 2008, and put these books in the rooms of the guests speaking these languages as gifts.


  • Limak 18th Ankara International Film Festival
  • Limak Holding further enhanced its support to the Ankara Film Festival and became the title sponsor of the Festival in 2007. During the Festival, which took place from April 12th to 27th, 2007, Limak Holding hosted a number of stars from the world of international cinema and the Turkish cinema at the Limak Ambassadore Hotel. The "Festival Train" carrying a number of filmmakers, actors, and media members, which departed from Haydarpasa Station on the morning of April 12, was welcome by the Festival band in the Ankara Station.
    The opening ceremony, presented by Elif Dağdeviren and Tamer Karadağlı, was held at Farabi Hall at the Faculty of Languages, History And Geography. During the ceremony, which was described as "Magnificent Opening" by the press, Turkish actress Fatma Girik received the "Aziz Nesin Prize" and the Antalya Film Festival received the "Mass Communications Prize". The opening movie of the festival was the Oscar-winning 2007 foreign Film "West Bank Story" directed by Ari Sandel; the director also attended the session.
    The festival party took place at Saklıkent Club on the evening of April 13, where Murat Meriç played old 45 rpm records and Baba Zula, a Turkish rock band who composed the soundtracks for Turkish movies "Dondurmam Gaymak" and "Tabutta Rövaşata", held a concert. During the 10-day festival 168 short films and 108 feature-length films were screened for audiences in Ankara.
    The Festival award ceremony, hosted by Şenay Gürler and Yetkin Dikinciler, began with a Turkish music concert performed by Belkıs Özener, an unforgettable Turkish singer who has sung in a number of Turkish movies. Writer Erhan Bener received the "Master of Arts Prize" for his contribution to Turkish cinema.
    The best feature-film prize went to "Beynelmilel", directed by Muharrem Gülmez and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Zeki Demirkubuz received the Best Director prize with his film "Kader", Vildan Atasever won the Best Actress for her role in the movie "Kader", and Haluk Bilginer won the Best Actor for his role in the movie "Polis", while Müge Ulusoy won the Best Supporting Actress. İlyas Salman earned the prize for the Best Supporting actor, and Sırrı Süreyya Önder received The Onat Kutlar Best Screenwriter prize, Serdar Yılmaz and Elif Taşçıoğlu the Best Art Direction prize, Rahman Altın the Best Music prize, Gökhan Atılmış the Best Director of Photography, and Çiçek Kahraman for the Best Editing. The famous painter and sculptor Ahmet Müderrisoğlu designed festival t-shirts as souvenirs. Events during the festival were photographed by five photographers from AFSAD (Ankara Photographic Artists’ Association). Within the scope of the festival, the book "Two Famous Women, Fatma Girik" written by Burçak Evren for Fatma Girik, who received the Aziz Nesin Prize, was published as well.
    “Beyaz Melek” Film Limak Holding is one of the sponsors of the movie Beyaz Melek (White Angel), written and directed by Mahsun Kırmızıgül. In addition to being a blockbuster in Turkey, the movie won the Best Foreign Film and the Best Foreign Director awards in Houston Film Festival and thus added another example to the international success of Turkish cinema.
  •  Ahmet from Diyarbakır incidentally comes across with a nursing home. The nursing home residents think this old man was abandoned and they accept him in. Ahmet meets a new world and the heroes and heroines of this world. Ali and Reşat, who pursues Ahmet, learn what a nursing home is for the first time there and this astonishes them. Ahmet, who likes these people after the wedding of Nebahat and Yaşar Hoca, invites the couple who could not go on the honeymoon and the other residents of the nursing home to his own village in Diyarbakır. The residents happy with the invitation set out for an interesting, tragic and besides a funny adventure.
  •  13th Festival of European Films on Wheels
  • The 13th of the Festival of European Films on Wheels in Sarajevo, a film festival organized by Ankara Cinema Association, took place between November 21st and 25th, 2007. Limak was one of the sponsors of the Festival.
    This year, the Festival on Wheels dedicated a special section to the acclaimed director Michael Haneke, one of the most nonconformist filmmakers of the European Cinema. Festival audiences had the chance to see a selection of Haneke’s work which includes "Funny Games", "The Time of the Wolf" and "The Seventh Continent". In addition, the director made a personal selection of European films exclusively for the Festival, which were displayed within the festival program. The titles included "Persona" from Ingmar Bergman, the great Swedish director whom we lost this year, Roberto Rossellini’s "Germany Year Zero", Robert Bresson’s "Balthazar", Jean Luc Godard’s "First Name: Carmen" and Luis Bunuel’s "The Exterminating Angel". The titles selected for the Turkish Cinema 2007 section of the festival featured Fatih Akın’s "The Edge of Heaven", Reis Çelik’s "The Refugee" and Handan İpekçi’s "Hidden Faces".
  • Fest-i Kült 3 AFGSD Ankara 3. Intercultural Film Festival
  • The 3rd Fest-i Kült Intercultural Film Festival, organized by the Ankara Branch of AFS (American Field Service) Volunteers to promote intercultural tolerance and voluntary service in society, took place between November 22nd and 29th, 2007. Limak Group of Companies was one of the sponsors of the festival.
    In addition to workshops&Idquo;How to Shoot a Movie"?” and "The Culture Hunting in Ankara", a great number of films were displayed in the Festival, including "Tony Takitani" written by Mukarimi and directed by Ichikowa, "Hope" (Umut) directed by the acclaimed Turkish short film director Mehmet Bahadır Er, the documentary "Janitor" (Gündelikçi), which won the best documentary prize in the 43rd Golden Orange Film Festival in Antalya, directed by Emel Çelebi, and an Argentinean movie "Seria Buenos Aires", which received an award in Injuve 2006.
    The special screening Fest-i Kült 3.1 took place between March 24th and 28th at the Engineering Auditorium of the Koç University and the students of İstanbul Koç University had a chance to get to know the festival closer.


  • The 17th Ankara International Film Festival
  • Limak Ambassadore Hotel hosted the 17th Ankara International Film Festival, which took place from March 16th to 26th, 2006.
    Among Turkish films screened during this festival were Anlat Istanbul (Tell us Istanbul), Ayın Karanlık Yüzü (Dark Side of the Moon), Babam ve Ustam (My Father and My Master), Eğreti Gelin (False Bride), Hacivat Karagöz Neden Öldürüldü? (Why were Hacivat and Karagöz Murdered?), 2 Genç Kız (2 Girls), Sen Ne Dilersen (Whatever You Wish), Yolda (On the Road), Dün Gece Bir Rüya Gördüm (I’ve Seen a Dream Last Night), and Sinema Bir Mucizedir (Cinema is a Miracle). The guests of the festival in Ankara involved Finnish director Pirjo Honkosolo, Polish Director Andrzey Bednarek, Mongol Director Byambasuren Davaa, and Zeki Demirkubuz, Atilla Dorsay, Ceyda Düvenci, Vildan Atasever, Güven Kıraç, Nur Sürer, Rutkay Aziz, and a number of other notable filmmakers. All press meetings and reportings took place at the Ambassadore Hotel. The Turkish movie "Anlat Istanbul" (Tell Us Istanbul) was screened in a special premiere at the Ambassadore Hotel.
  • The 12th European Film Festival On Wheels
  • Limak Holding hosted the 12th European Film Festival on Wheels, which was organized by the Ankara Cinema Association from November 9th to 12th, 2006, at the Ambassadore Hotel.
  • The Festival on Wheels offered spectators in Ankara a variety of specially selected movies classified under such categories as European, Turkish Cinema 2006, a Century with Visconti, the Best European Comedies, and Surrealist Movies.
  • Among the movies screened in special premiers were "Kader" (Destiny) directed by Zeki Demirkubuz, "Dondurmam Gaymak" (Ice Cream, I scream) by Yüksel Aksu, which was Turkey’s entry at this year’s Oscars, "Takva" by Özer Kızıltan, "Eve Dönüş" (Return Home) by Ömer Uğur, and "Cenneti Beklerken" (Waiting for Heaven) by Derviş Zaim. A number of actors and actresses, and moviemakers were hosted at the Ambassadore Hotel.
