Keban Dam Spillway Rehabilitation

To overcome the defects of cavitations that has occurred on the spillway and flip bucket of Keban Dam, liquefied carbon dioxide was used for the first time in Turkey to cut the existing walls and aeration canals were constructed. In addition, piles were driven and concrete was poured in order to prevent the cavitations caused by the water spilled at the flip bucket of spillway. 10.500 m of Q200 piles and 11.000 m2 injection curtain were constructed and 95.000 m3 of concrete was used.
