The construction of the new international terminal building of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and its supplementary was started on May 1, 2008 by Limak-GMR Ordinary Partnership and while investment period was 30 months, it was put into service on October 31, 2009, corresponding to 18 months, which is a record when such size and technical specifications are considered.

Winning several awards for its architecture, construction quality and management during a short time period, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport was selected one of top 5 safest airports in the world by risk Management Magazine, one of the most prestigious magazines of the United States, based on the surveys conducted in 2010.
